Rezo Gelashvili City Songs Festival in Lisi Green Town

In the Lisi Green Town, in Rezo Gelashvili Park, the annual “Rezo Gelashvili City Songs Festival” was held.  The quartets “Theater Quarter”, “My Quartet”, “Georgian Voices”, “Droni”, “Tbilisuri”, “Hangi”, Trio “Ballad” and “Four Gia” were presented.   Friends of the singer, public figures, and lovers of the city songs attended the event. The date of the festival has been selected particularly, and it was devoted to the birthday of Rezo Gelashvili. The singer would have turned 66 on 13 July. Rezo Gelashvili for years has participated in the Trio “Simi”, Zaza Vepkhvadze, and Zurab Tskitishvili sang with him. The ensemble was established in 1988. The first song, which the young friends performed together was the song created according to the poem by Irakli Abashidze, sang by Otar Ramishvili – “It was snowing last night”. In 1991, the Trio recorded the first audiotape named “Retro”, which united the compositions of the Georgian composers from the movies. Trio for 28 years has held several concerts in many countries of the world. The Trio “Simi” has performed such famous city songs as “My Kutaisi”, “Tuta”, “Wine Ascend”, “Kesanebi”, etc. In 2011, the star of the Trio Simi was opened in front of the Philharmonic Concert Hall.
